“Just Because It Makes Me Happy” Scrapbook Page Layout

Here is a recent 12×12 Scrapbook Page Layout I created.  It is  a “Self-Indulgent” page!  By that I mean that I have made the page for ME!

It was actually for a challenge a friend and I set for ourselves.  The challenge was to scrapbook something that made us happy, didn’t matter what it was (which is just as well when you realise what the page is about!!).

Just Because it Makes Me Happy - Scrapbook Page by SundayL

Anyway, it is also a self indulgent page because I used lots of flowers and buttons (which I love) and some of my special double sided K&Co Que Sera Sera paper.  Not particularly my favourite colours for a scrapbook layout, but then I had to be led by the colour of the car.

Talking of colour… did you notice that the car is blue and I am in colour, but the rest of the photograph is black and white?

Why did I do that?  Well I had to get my hubby to take a picture quickly as I had been waiting to take the car somewhere picturesque, but hadn’t got around to it, so I finally gave up with that idea and settled for a picture where it is normally parked outside my house!

Unfortunately the neighbours’ fencing had been recently re-treated in a hideous orange!  I’m sure it is called something fancy on the tin, such as “English Oak” or “autumn Beech”, but frankly it should be called “In Your Face Pumpkin”!!

Anyway, because of the huge amount of orange fencing in the picture AND reflecting in the back windows of the car, I thought I would drain it all out.

How did I Do that?  Well in Photoshop Elements, when you add things to a photograph it puts layers one on top of the other.  I made a copy of the original picture layer (which sits directly over the top of the other one) and then drained all the colour from that layer.  I then took my eraser tool and erased all the area of the car and me which revealed the coloured picture underneath… cool huh?!

In the next article I will show you the back of the page layout - always interesting to see behind the scenes.  In the meantime, here is a gallery of close-ups.
