In the last article I showed you a scrapbook page layout - “Just Because It Makes Me Happy“. Well As promised here is the back of that page, and as you can see below… I’ve been “gutting” again!
As I was covering a good portion of the 12×12 background cardstock with an 8×8 piece of K&Co Que Sera Sera Paper (very nice collection!), I cut out the area of the cardstock that would be covered, although not as a square because of the curled up corner of paper. The other layers of paper were just small pieces tucked underneath the main piece, as can be seen by looking at the back. (The two whiter pieces are from one of my downloadable collections!)

I often “gut” the cardstock and/or paper that will just be covered over, you could call me tight!, but actually it does make your scapbooking stash go much further, which is of particular importance in this ‘ere credit crunch we are supposed to be in.
However, the main reason for doing it, was because I quite often only have one piece of that particular shade of cardstock that matches my project and I want to use some on the page itself, such as for a mat or title block. In this case I matted the photograph onto the piece I gutted.
You can also see the back of the stitching in the picture above too. My Demo and Workshop at the ScrapBuddies Crop on September 12th will be about using stitching exactly like this on Scrapbook pages and Cards. And even though you may not be able to make it to the crop (which will have a free hand-out of stitching templates)… I may make the templates into the September Subscriber freebie!
Oh and one last little thing… a little TIP really… it’s worth putting the date that you actually made the layout on the back (although I haven’t done so yet in this picture!). It is interesting looking back at your pages to see how your style has developed and putting the date on the back helps, as often the date on the scrapbook page itself is many years ago… like your own childhood, or even before!
I also write any other interesting details, such as whether it was made as part of a challenge, or submitted to a magazine for publication. (talking of which I will unveil my latest published 12×12 soon as the issue is now out!)
