Scrapbooking to a Better Life – Try Intentional Scrapbooking

Sometimes in life (in my case quite often since opening a Tearooms business which seemed to hit the ground running!) you can feel a bit overwhelmed by all the ‘stuff’ on your ‘ToDo’ list.  I felt a bit like this recently and decided to down tools… well in an office/admin sort of way and clear a space for me to make myself a scrapbook page with an affirmation on it (for want of a better word).

This is the result.

All The Time I Need by SundayL

This is another of my Intentional Scrapbook Pages, and by that I mean it’s a scrapbook page that I can put on view to remind me to think in a particular way.  A pretty affirmation if you will as it is aesthetically pleasing, or at least I like it!  I have made these before.

You might be interested in a couple of items on this Scrapbook Layout.

Firstly the photograph I took back in October, my blog post about it is here.  Now that’s not because it is particularly ‘David Bailey’ in any way (does that translate across the pond? in fact I don’t think the youngsters of today know who David Bailey is!)… anyway, not because it’s good, but because I deliberately took the picture with a lot of the foreground which is cast into black shadow.  And the reason for that is because I knew I wanted to use it to put white text over.  I wrote a little about that here.

Then there are the two clocks which are graphics printed onto glossy photographic paper, which work rather well I thought, and I bought these online… they are digital scrapbooking elements… here I have used them in a ‘hybrid way’

The black and white, bracket shaped piece of paper was made from an ordinary white piece of paper which has been stamped with black ink.

So here are a few closeups…

Oh and finally, whilst I was making this scrapbook page, Honey (7) was making one too… hence the couple of matching items!  However, she did do this all without my help!  She even recoloured the wooden flowers to lime green and bright pink to co-ordinate with the other elements!

I Made It – Scrapbook Page by SundayL

Following on from a personal scrapbook page I made last year with the title “I Can Do This”, which was made as encouragement for myself to keep going and stop doubting myself  (with regard to this massive gamble my husband and I were taking by buying a closed pub and turning it into a Tearooms!)…

… I made this layout as an acknowledgement of what I have achieved!

Intentional Scrapbooking “I Can Do This” Layout

Hi there, the next Scrapbooking Layout instalment of my “Intentional Scrapbooking”!  I’m just showing you the layout here and will write a little more about the subject later!

Here is a close up of the title chipboard letters… I covered them thickly with white acrylic paint and when it had dried I stamped onto them with a subtle slatey-blue ink, using Two Scoops Stamps (from Basic Grey)

This picture is mainly a close up of the curled corner… something I’m “into” at the mo!

Here’s a close up of the other side of the scrapbooking page – cluster of flowers, brads, buttons and ribbon.

“Thank You For…” Scrapbooking Canvas

Time to Scrapbook outside the Page!  I found a couple of mini canvases going cheap in a local framing shop and thought I would do a little “altering”.  This canvas is 5 inches square and I decided to make a “Thank You” reminder for my room.  I have already made a “Thank you” Layout and this adds to my collection.  Maybe this will inspire you to make something similar.

I was asked who I was making this for (I was at a crop at the time) and when I replied “It’s for Me”, I got a few quizzical looks!  I had to explain the general idea of the Law of Attraction and that being more Thankful for all the good things around me, would mean I receive more things to be thankful for – hence the Thank You “FOR…”

I want to make use of my scrapbooking know-how to make some lifestyle reminders of how to be grateful and place them all over my house.  If it’s pleasant to look at, it induces the right positive feelings.

I used a few of the things that I like at the moment, such as a Pheobe (Basic Grey) little pad of paper, some lace and ribbon which I did actually hand-sew onto the paper.  The lady that runs the crop I was at, allows members to borrow her Cricut and I used the Calligraphic Classic font  (I think) to cut the words – and I hand cut the green mat around the words.

It’s not particularly clear in the photographs, but I did actually use some silicone to raise the words up off the green mat, which in turn, is raised from the background paper using 3D foam pads.

I found a little packet of these little “Made with Love” tags in a craft shop and I put them on the cards I make for friends and family.  I thought I would add one here as (again re the Law of Attraction) we are supposed to feel the feeling of love to improve our lives.  (A little note: if you can’t feel love (and sometimes we really don’t feel like it as we are not in a happy place from time to time!! –  try starting with like… or even just slightly like first!  Be thankful for even the most minor good things in your life and you will see other things around you too.  This does actually work and it starts to lift your mood.)

Making a “Thank You For…” Scrapbook Layout, Canvas or anything else that you can hang around the house, is good exercise in making something just for yourself.  Choose the colours you want and the embellishments you want and do it just to please yourself for a change.  If you make it something that you enjoy looking at, you will look at it more often.  And there is no limit as to how many times you can have positive words hanging around your house as reminders… not just for you, but for your whole family.  Try getting your kids to make one, can’t hurt can it?!
